54 Participate in Women & Girls Fund Golf Tournament

Linda Laramy, Judi Loscomb, Debbie Carney and Sue Schmitt claimed low net honors at the Women & Girls Fund’s second annual golf tournament. The event was held at the Talbot Country Club on June 4. For Laramy, the nine-hole tournament was her first round of golf in seven years, her first Women & Girls Fund golf day and her first ever tournament win. “I had no idea golf could be such fun,” Laramy said. The “scramble” tournament — where members of each team tee off, then hit from the location of the best of their four shots — finished off a day that included a putting contest, a rules clinic and a series of clinics on putting, bunker shots, pitching, chipping and long shots. In all, 54 women participated. “It was great to see that some of the tournament winners were novice golfers and golfers who hadn’t played in years,” said Women & Girls Fund President Beth Spurry. Other winners at the Women & Girls Fund golf tournament included: Christina Hoff, Allie Marriott, Kirsten Damgaard and Beth Spurry, second place low net; Sandy Bjork, Jen Coleman, Margie Elsberg and Jo Ann Saville, third place low net; Charlotte Ehlig, Jo Ann O’Reilly, Julie Wojcik and Christy Osborne, fourth place low net; Linda Raughley, closest to the pin (16th hole); Kirsten Damgaard, closest to the pin (18th hole); and Christy Osborne, longest drive. Proceeds from the fundraiser support the Women & Girls Fund’s special programs and annual grants. For information about the fund, call 410-770-8347 or visit www.womenandgirlsfund.org
